AI agents are already authenticating against your systems, retrieving secrets from your vaults, assuming privileged roles, and operating across cloud, SaaS, and APIs. Most of them were never registered anywhere. Your identity tools don’t know they exist. And neither do you.

Not all AI agents get provisioned through a ticket. They can spin up on demand, operate through personal accounts, and are increasingly created by other agents, or by humans outside of traditional provisioning tools. Traditional IAM and security tools discover identities the same way they always have, by waiting to be told they exist. That outdated approach is proving it doesn’t work for the new area of agentic AI.

The result is an identity attack surface growing faster than any team can manually track. Shadow agents operating outside governance. Autonomous workflows accessing secrets with no oversight. Rogue agents moving laterally through environments nobody approved them to touch.

Finding them requires a different approach entirely. One that doesn’t rely on provisioning records or IdP events but observes what every AI agent has to do: communicate with its model.
